Anyone who is Blind, partially sighted or otherwise visually impaired, and are interested in keeping up with the local news in Rotherham is eligible to receive our weekly local news recordings.
The local news, as printed in the Rotherham Advertiser, is recorded weekly onto either audio cassette, CD, or USB Memory Stick and delivered to you free of charge every week. All postage is covered under "Articles for the Blind" and again is totally free.
In addition, every week, our Listeners also receive a second recording which is our weekly audio Magazine, full of interesting stories, articles, quizzes and much more.
All our services are straightforward, simple to operate, and totally FREE
The recordings are sent out each wednesday by first class post and hopefully arrive with the Listener by Thursday morning. The recordings are delivered through the Listeners letterbox in a plastic pouch.
After the Listener has listened to the recordings then he/she just puts them back in the plastic pouch, turns round the address label, and puts them (or gets someone else to put them) in the nearest post box.
Its that simple
All we need for someone to become a Listener is their:
Address (including post code)
Date of Birth (so that we can wish them Happy Birthday on the Magazine recording)
A contact Telephone Number (this could be the number of a friend or family member)
Whether the Listener would like to receive the recordings on Audio Cassette, CD, or USB Memory Stick
If you decide to become a Listener then there are a number of ways that you can get in touch with us.
By Phone - Just ring us on
any day Monday to Wednesday between 9.00am and 1.00pm. If you find it difficult to ring yourself then get a friend or member of your family to do it for you
Please note that our current working hours are Monday to Wednesday 9.00am to 1.00pm. If you ring outside these hours or if we are busy and can't take your call then please leave a message and we will get back to you. Our messages are checked every day and outside our working hours. Thank you.
